At its core, JBS USA is a food company with a passion to be a part of the family meal, providing sustainable food solutions that our customers and consumers can be proud to share and serve. We strive each day to be the best, and our team is focused on improving the quality of life for millions of global citizens through delicious, great-tasting food. Our responsibility as a leading global food company is to produce safe, quality, sustainable food the right way. It is an important responsibility that we whole-heartedly embrace.

JBS USA has established a unique, diversified portfolio of primary proteins and branded, value-added food solutions across the United States, Canada, Mexico, Europe, the U.K., Australia and New Zealand that allows our company to maximize global opportunities and minimize the impacts of trade restrictions and market disruptions. Our varied product offerings and exclusive global production and distribution platform are generating record results.

JBS USA enjoyed another banner year in 2018, producing the second best year of financial results in company history and contributing to the best year of financial results in the history of JBS Global, which includes our diversified operations in Brazil. At JBS USA, we are guided by an aspirational mindset to be the best, and our financial performance has allowed our company to provide new and exciting opportunities for our team members, family farm and ranch partners, customers, shareholders and communities.

In 2018, we also continued to establish a path for long-term growth and success by investing in our operations and team members at record levels, enhancing governance and compliance, reducing both financial debt and leverage, improving safety in our facilities, releasing our first-ever JBS USA Sustainability Report and making great strides toward meeting our 2020 sustainability goals.

In partnership with our stakeholders and the remarkable efforts of our team members, JBS USA stands ready to responsibly meet the challenges of the future and play a role in sustainably feeding the world.

A Message from Our Sustainability Team

We are excited to present our first interactive, digital online sustainability report. The 2018 JBS USA Sustainability Report provides the most comprehensive view to date of the sustainability performance of our operations in Australia, Canada, England, France, Mexico, the Netherlands, Northern Ireland, New Zealand and the United States. At JBS USA, we are passionate about our business, our unique portfolio of high-quality foods and our potential to create a better life for our team members, business partners, stakeholders and communities.

As a global food company, we are privileged to work alongside farmers and ranchers from rural communities all around the world who share our dedication to responsibly producing delicious foods you can proudly and confidently share with your family and friends.

Our sustainability journey has only just begun, but each year we continue to improve our performance and enhance our contributions to society.

2018 Key Achievements

  • Team Member Health and Safety: Decreased severe incidents by 16.2 percent
  • Environment: Reduced electricity use intensity and greenhouse gas emission intensity by 4 percent and 3 percent, respectively, compared to 2017
  • Animal Health and Welfare: Scored 95 percent or greater on all external third-party audits
  • Supply Chain: Partnered with more than 25,600 livestock and poultry family farm and ranch partners and paid them more than $18 billion
  • Economic: Enjoyed a $1.8 billion in Profit After Tax and $3 billion in Adjusted EBITDA

In 2017, we released our 2020 sustainability goals for our U.S. and Canadian businesses, based on a 2015 benchmark year. In line with our mission, “to be the best,” these stretch goals are intended to drive our continuous improvement efforts in our key sustainability focus areas.  Compared to 2015, we are on track to meet 6 out of 7 of our 2020 goals.
